Jamaica’s Minister of Transportation tours Santo Domingo Metro facilities

Santo Domingo.- A delegation of officials, led by the executive directors of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant) and the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (OPRET), conducted a tour of the Metro facilities on Wednesday. Joining them was the Minister of Transportation, Energy, Sciences, and Telecommunications of Jamaica, Daryl Vaz, who received detailed explanations about the Integrated Transportation System of the Dominican Republic.
The tour commenced with a meeting at the office of the director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation, Rafael Santos, attended by the executive director of Intrant, Colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez. From there, they proceeded to the Operations Control Center of the Santo Domingo Metro. Accompanied by Daryl Vaz and the directors of Intrant and OPRET, they visited workshops and the hangar before embarking on a metro ride to the Pedro Livio Cedeño station from the Máximo Gómez station (La Isabelita).
Colonel Randolfo Rijo Gómez mentioned that various topics were discussed during the meeting, including the operation of the Integrated Transportation System Metro-Omsa and Cable Car, as well as the operation of bus corridors. It was noted that the Jamaican official expressed keen interest in understanding and implementing regulations established in the Dominican Republic, particularly those related to transportation regulation and motorcycle registration.
Furthermore, Daryl Vaz expressed interest in the National Emergency Response and Security System 911 during his visit to the country. In a meeting with Dominican authorities, Minister Vaz commended the achievements and efficiency of the 911 system in the Dominican Republic, emphasizing its ability to coordinate rapid and effective responses in emergency and crisis situations, which he hoped could be replicated in his country.
